Valve warns: Users of an AMD graphics card could be wrongly banned. Therefore you should refrain from using a certain setting for the time being.
You are playing hard Counter-Strike 2 and that with an AMD graphics card? Then caution is advised! Valve itself currently warns that a very specific driver setting can wrongly lead to bans. AMD has already reacted, but it is still recommended to stick to your own options for the time being.
Why Anti-Lag may just lead to a ban
What happened? Actually, AMD Anti-Lag (just like Nvidia”s Reflex) aims to reduce laziness in games. This refers to the time it takes for a mouse click to take effect in the game itself. The latency is influenced by various factors, such as the hardware and the monitor.
Anti-Lag+ goes one step further than the regular Anti-Lag setting. The graphics card not only accesses the CPU frequency and GPU speed, but even the game code itself. This is exactly what leads to problems in Counter-Strike: Because anyone who tampers with the game code (for example, via a cheat program) is automatically banned.
And that”s exactly what Valve warns now: Who uses Anti-Lag+ with a new AMD graphics card, runs the risk of being banned because of it. This is then even a hard VAC ban. Games (especially with multiplayer focus) that make use of it will not be allowed to be played anymore.
AMD”s latest driver has made their “Anti-Lag/+” feature available for CS2, which is implemented by detouring engine dll functions.
If you are an AMD customer and play CS2, DO NOT ENABLE ANTI-LAG/+; any tampering with CS code will result in a VAC ban.
Once AMD ships an update we…

What AMD users should watch out for now
What should I pay attention to now? The solution is simple: Go to your graphics card settings and manually disable the Anti-Lag+ feature.
Do owners of an Nvidia graphics card have the same problem? No, currently only users of an AMD graphics card are plagued by it. Those on Nvidia and using the Reflex function should be able to continue playing without worrying.
What happens now? Valve itself has warned about the problem on X (formerly Twitter), so is aware of the problem. AMD, in turn, has taken the Adrenalin driver version 23.10.1 offline. Valve and AMD are also in close communication to get the matter under control.

What can I do if I have already been banned? If you have already been unlawfully caught by a VAC ban, there is definitely hope. Valve plans to reverse these bans once the issue with Anti-Lag+ is fixed. This is definitely welcome news, Valve does not usually retract VAC bans.
Are you using AMD and also the Anti-Lag+ feature? Have you perhaps even been affected by a VAC ban? Let us know in the comments! Also, let us know how satisfied you are with the current state of Valve”s shooter: What do you find great and what do you have problems with? What improvements and new features would you like to see in future updates? Let us know in the comments!
