According to leaks, there are concrete details about the CPU and GPU. However, the source should be taken with a grain of salt.
The first information about the technical specifications for the PS5 Pro is said to have leaked out. They come from the source (RedGamingTech), which is posted on Reddit (for mixed feelings). Can this information be correct
The leak in short version
The source’s statements refer to a prototype that Sony is currently testing. Different components are also supposed to be used. The inner workings are therefore not yet set in stone.
All information in the Twitter summary:
ps5pro specs I’ve heard:
8C custom Zen 2 cpu – Low 4Ghz
30WGP / 60 CU RDNA 3 hybrid @ 2500-2800Mhz
16GB GDDR6 @ 18000MT/s
Possibly 2/4GB DDR5 RAM for OS
Possibly 2x the Tempest Engine performancehttps://t.co/BCpFVSilxZ

This is what the cryptic numbers from the leak mean
According to the leaker, there should be an adaptation of the graphics unit (GPU) from AMD. While the PS5 uses an RDNA-2 architecture adapted to the console, the PS5 Pro is supposed to get an adapted (RDNA-3 architecture) with up to 60 CU.
CU stands for Compute Units. These compute units are computing units, which, in simple terms, represent the performance – for comparison: the normal PS5 only has 36 CU.
You can see which features could be possible in the respective architecture in the table. But beware: Sony uses an adapted version!

These features are possible with the particular architecture.
The clock speed of the new GPU is supposed to be between 2500 and 2800 MHz. The base model here is at 2233 MHz.
What does a higher clock rate mean? Put simply, a higher clock rate increases the speed of the CPU or GPU. One disadvantage is that a higher clock rate produces more heat.
The virtual memory (VRAM) is said to use GDDR6 technology and come in 16 GB size. According to the leak, the speed will be 18000 megatransfers per second (MT/s).
Another special feature: There is supposed to be between 2 and 4 GB of DDR5 memory extra for the PS5 Pro’s operating system. This is to offload the power needed for the operating system and give the GDDR 6 memory more room for the power hunger of your games
The original PS5 also has 16GB of VRAM, but this feature is missing!
Last but not least, everything about the CPU: The Zen 2 CPU is supposed to use 8 cores and is clocked in the low 4 GHz range. According to the leaker, Sony is still experimenting with this.
For comparison: The current PS5 clocks at 3.5 GHz.
Worth seeing: In the context of our FYNG-Tech action there is a lot of discussion about Pro versions.
The leaker RedGamingTech is met with mixed feelings on the Internet. So it remains unclear whether it is a valid leak. What do you think? Can this be true or will Sony once again turn the performance screw? What do you think about the additional 2-4 GB for the operating system? Feel free to write us in the comments.
