There have been many rumors circulating over the last few weeks about a brand new Dota hero. Now, the announcement has officially been made. Ringmaster is coming to Dota 2 in 2024. There are very few details available at the moment but we can expect more in the next couple of months.
It isn’t the first time a new hero has been announced at Dota. The latest hero, Muerta, was teased at The International last year before being released in early 2023. It seems that Valve are keen to follow the same pattern again.
Ringmaster – New Hero
In a video released just before the TI12 Grand Finals was due to begin, Valve confirmed that Ringmaster will be released in “early 2024”.
The video showed Axe alone in a spooky, circus themed forest. He was chasing a mechanical circus jungle creep, leading some to believe there may be a trap element to the new Dota hero. After being baited into competing in a Test Your Strength game, mechanical arms reached out of an Iron Maiden type structure. Axe was dragged back and killed quickly by Ringmaster.
It has been speculated that this new Dota hero is an anti-core or anti Universal hero. In Ringmaster’s own words, no hero is safe.
What Role of the New Dota Hero?
In the image, Ringmaster is presented in a circus theme. Heroes including Monkey King, Kunkka, Axe, Mirana and Keeper of the Light are all made a mockery of on the poster. This doesn’t give us many clues. After Muerta’s being a ranged intelligence carry, we’re certainly due a new melee hero. Ringmaster has extendable mechanical arms but it still seems that he will largely be a melee hero.
Time will tell but one thing is sure, Valve have got even more changes in store for Dota fans going into the next year.
