It has been suggested by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg (reliant on his internal sources) that Grand Theft Auto 6 could be announced as early as this week. This is monumental news for gaming fans the world over, as most of the gaming community has been patiently awaiting news of this game for years. For the last few months, Rockstar Games has been dropping subtle teasers, but aside from the huge leak that occurred last year, we’ve seen absolutely nothing of the game up until this point.

Reportedly, Rockstar Games could formally announce Grand Theft Auto 6 in the coming days, with the full reveal trailer dropping in December. That would be to coincide with the firm’s 25th anniversary, so it all lines up perfectly. It’s a hugely exciting prospect for the fans that have playing Grand Theft Auto 5 for more than a decade, eagerly awaiting the launch of the next game in the world’s most popular gaming franchise.

Is GTA 6 Being Revealed This Week?

There are few sources more reliable than Bloomberg, so this isn’t a ‘pinch of salt’ kind of rumour. There’s some credence to what Jason Schreier has reported, and now, we just need to sit back and wait. Last year, immense leaks saw almost 100 GB of content spread around online, revealing countless tidbits of information from within the GTA 6 project. For instance, we got a look at the two-part protagonist system (including a female lead), a little of the map (which looks like Vice City), and some of the gameplay mechanics.

Since then, things have gone silent. Rockstar stepped up to admit that it was working on the next generation of Grand Theft Auto, but that was it – no further information was divulged.

There have been claims circulating in the last few months that suggest GTA 6 could be the most expensive game to develop ever. There are rumours that it has cost Rockstar some $2 billion to produce over several years. If there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that it’s set to be one of the most impressive, detailed games in history.

What Do We Know About GTA 6

There’s a difference between what we know about GTA 6 and what we think we know about GTA 6. For instance, there’s a lot of fake, AI-generated, and manufactured content circulating online that’s painting an erroneous picture. The closest thing we have to ‘real content’ from GTA 6 is taken from the leaks, and all of that was subject to change from the moment it was released online.

We think GTA 6 is set in a modern-day rendition of Vice City, with some flashback sequences being present. We think there will be a two-part protagonist system consisting of a brother, Jason, and a sister, Lucia. There are various elements such as store robberies and heists seemingly returning from GTA 5, and in general, it looks like a highly detailed, realistic game. There are suggestions that the gunplay and weapon system is taken from Red Dead Redemption 2, and overall, it’s more challenging than GTA 5.

We’ll likely know more in the coming weeks. Are you excited?
