It’s finally happening – after ten years of Grand Theft Auto 5, a year of leaks, and months of fans wondering if ‘today is the day’, Rockstar Games has confirmed it. In December 2023, Grand Theft Auto 6 will be revealed in full through its first ever trailer. This is Ground Zero – it’s where it all starts to shape up.

In 2011, the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 5 was released, and by 2013, the game had been released. There are high expectations that GTA 6 will be released in late 2024 or early 2025, and given recent financial predictions, it seems that Rockstar Games is shaping up for that window. This could be the most highly anticipated game in history – at least until GTA 7 comes around.

It’s Finally Time

In a statement published to Twitter, Sam Houser, the President of Rockstar Games, took to the airwaves to talk about the company’s upcoming 25th anniversary. He spoke about the passion that the firm has had since the 1990s, developing some of the most enjoyable, popular games the industry has ever seen, but it didn’t end there.

Houser went on to drop a bombshell – confirming rumours that suggested an announcement would take place today.

We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you.

And just like that, the internet exploded. There are such high expectations for this first look at GTA 6, many players and fans of the franchise are left wondering if Rockstar Games can truly deliver. Can the company live up to the hype? It’s impossible to say — no game has ever had this much energy around it, and even the 100 GB of leaked files from last year didn’t hamper the hype train at all.

Could GTA 6 Be The Best Game Ever?

There are also expectations that GTA 6 will be the game to end all games, boasting intense realism, a massive open world, an immersive story, and a top-shelf multiplayer that’ll rival GTA Online. It’s all conjecture and rumours, but based on the leaks that were propagated over the internet late last year, it’s definitely possible that everything we’re expecting will be delivered.

Hopefully, the trailer that Rockstar Games publishes in December will be a feature-length offering and not a 30-second teaser with little more than a title card. That would be the most underwhelming thing ever — but personally, I trust Rockstar Games to knock our socks off and showcase something that’ll truly get everyone running out and searching desperately for a pre-order option.
