Larssen will stay in the LEC team despite the KOI-Infinite Reality partnership end

The Swedish mid laner was originally reported to have found an agreement with KOI in September, extending his contract for four more years. The situation quickly changed, however, as KOI and Infinite Reality faced issues in their strategic partnership and publicly announced the termination of the collaboration between the two entities last week.

According to the report by Sheep Esports, the troublesome situation around the LEC team led Larssen to break the verbal agreement on the contract extension. Larssen began leveraging his position in late October and actively sought other teams given the uncertainties on the future of the organization. KOI reportedly attempted to negotiate with players to retain key members of its roster by signing new deals, but the uncertainties in organizational budgets made negotiations impossible.

With the partnership now over, Infinite Reality managed to find an agreement with the player for the 2024 season and beyond. It’s unclear, however, whether the new contract will still last the previously agreed 4 years.

Larssen also received offers from other teams

Considering his past achievements and talent, Larssenn reportedly received interest from Excel Esports as well as other LEC and LCS teams during the off-season. According to Sheep Esports, the Swedish mid laner was actively in contention for the starting spot of teams such as SK Gaming, Vitality, FlyQuest, and more. Now that Larssen has verbally agreed to stay in the team, that will unlock other players that were put on hold due to Larssen’s change of availability.

Infinite Reality’s Future in the LEC

With Larssen set to remain, Infinity Reality’s unnamed LEC team is looking to build its new 2024 lineup and the new branding tied to it. According to the GCD, top Laner Szygenda, and AD Carry Comp” are the two players contracted until 2025 and 2024 respectively while jungler Malrang and support Advienne have contracts expiring this year and were reportedly looking for new opportunities.
