No pressure in his amazing Kalista performance

Weibo bot laner Wang “Light” Guang-Yu was in a great mood after his 12/2/5 Kalista performance in the series’ versus BLG, his best showing thus far.

“Even though there were several mistakes in the game,” Light explained, “we still managed to close it out. Game five was the only game that I would call an incredible performance, I would say that it was probably a normal performance in [the rest of] this best-of-five.”

Now set to face three-time Worlds winners T1 in the grand final next week. Light is “not feeling super pressured right now,” after making it this far:

“I just need to think about and focus on my performance in order to perform really well in the finals.”

Winning against the LCK has special value

Light explained how his top side of TheShy, WeiWei and Xiaohu have been “performing perfectly” during the tournament, and it “really comes down to the bot duo in the upcoming matches” if his side are to claim the Summoner’s Cup.

Light also revealed a preference between which league he would prefer to beat, while diplomatically stating that they “are both very strong” and he will “have to improve to face up against”.

“I think it would be more meaningful if we could win against an LCK team because since the beginning of the Swiss stage we only competed against KT and haven’t really won against a strong LCK team.”

Meanwhile, Zeus had high praise for Weibo’s TheShy from his own interview, but still feels T1 will win 3-1 in the end.

After the duel on Saturday, BLG support Luo “ON” Wen-Jun was dejected as he spoke to the media after the series having just lost arguably the most important match of the year. Asked what he thought complicated the series for his team, ON was almost speechless: “I don’t really know.”

Despite the downcast nature of his press conference, ON was still able to find some positives in his team’s season, one that also saw them finish runners-up at MSI, adding that “even though we didn’t manage to win any trophy, I think everyone on our team proved that we’re all very strong players and I’m satisfied with getting to this stage.” He finished by saying that BLG must keep “fighting next year and becoming stronger as a team.”

The Worlds 2023 Grand Final is set for Sunday with a big opening ceremony and the highest anticipated Worlds viewership to date.
