Escape From Tarkov ‘wipes’ every six months or so, with the developer flushing the game and resetting everyone’s account to ensure replayability. It’s seen as one of the most important events in the calendar of even the most average Tarkov player, and it typically brings hundreds of thousands of people flocking back to the popular extraction shooter. Recently, the game’s developer – Battlestate Games – started releasing clips designed to showcase the new features and elements coming to Tarkov in December.
It’s shaping up to be an important wipe for Escape From Tarkov. It’s coming so soon after the last wipe, which occurred on August 10th, but Battlestate still has a lot of content to deploy. In a series of posts on Twitter – and during a live stream – BSG was revealing what’s next for Escape From Tarkov, exciting fans the world over.
What’s Coming to Tarkov?
In December, Escape From Tarkov will pick up a few new features – and an entirely new map.
Ground Zero
This new map has been designed exclusively for low-level players, and once PMCs reach a certain level, they won’t be able to get access to it. It’s set in the heart of Tarkov and is made up of some sizeable buildings placed around a few roads, boasting a Streets of Tarkov-style vibe.
Vaulting
For the longest time, fans have been calling out for more traversal abilities in Tarkov. With the next wipe, players will get the ability to vault and mantle over low obstacles, effectively ticking that box once and for all.
In-Game Achievements
For the completionists among us, Battlestate Games is adding a comprehensive list of achievements to Tarkov. This will allow users to chase down side tasks to tick a box and unlock an achievement. So far, the list looks quite inventive.

Armor Plates
Instead of armored equipment just having one health bar, it’ll now have a series of them. In the next wipe, players will start adding ‘armor plates’ to their vests and rigs, choosing what they want to reinforce and fixing individual plates as and when they break.
Left-Shoulder Shooting
As another versatility addition, Battlestate Games is making it possible for players to swap shoulders, shooting from the left for the first time. There are also adjustments being made to blind fire and recoil mechanics.
Weapons
There were also three weapons revealed by Battlestate: 9A-91, RPD, and VSK-94.
It’s expected that more features will be revealed as the launch of the next Tarkov wipe gets ever closer. It’s a monumental event for new and veteran players alike, and it should send Tarkov rocketing to the top of the social and streaming charts, at least for a few days.
