As we’re approaching the end of the year, we’re seeing things heat up for quite a few of the biggest fighting game circuits. Most recently is the Tekken Lyon Major, a huge event where players compete for a ton of points in the Tekken World Tour. As an offline major, this is a highlight for the Tekken World Tour. How did things go? Super Akouma has managed to secure the win here, seeing off tons of Europe’s best Tekken competitors.

The France major was a huge event in terms of points for the Global Finals. However, this Tekken Major was a part of different circuits. There was the European Tekken Cup, along with the Tekken World Tour. The winning player secured his place at the World Tour, but hasn’t managed to get into the European Final, since he’s been mainly focusing on the World Tour.

This is how the Tekken Lyon major went and how Super Akouma took victory.

Tekken Lyon Major

The Tekken Lyon Major was a major event in the circuit, concluding the Tekken France Championship for 2023. Some of Europe’s biggest players were competing here. There was both a €1,000 prize pool here and a ton of points for the wider circuit.

In the final bracket, Super Akouma started things in the Semi-Finals. Up against PPL, he took an early lead breezing through 2-0. In the Winners Finals, Banbino faced Super Akouma and in a tight 3-2 finish he managed to knock Akouma back down to losers.

To get back into the Grand Final, he had to face Hexmark. While a tough fight, Super Akouma put a stop to Hexmark running his way up through the losers bracket. That set things up for an exciting Grand Finals.

Super Akouma was back facing Banbino. In the first section, he managed to win 3-0. This forced a full bracket reset and gave Super Akouma a chance at the title. In the second round, he repeated this feat but this time he lost only a single round. The player claimed victory at the Tekken Lyon Major, after a dramatic reset round. One of the highlights for most fighting game esports is when we see a victory off a bracket reset, this major definitely didn’t disappoint.
