Digimon Adventure 02 The Beginning has been in cinemas in the US and Japan for a few weeks now. Our spoiler free breakdown covers the cast of the movie!

The trailers feature the cast of the second season of the anime; showing them as they adjust into their working careers. Davis has opened his noodle shop with Veemon. Yolei is working abroad with the friends she made in the latter portion of the season. Kari has pursued teaching and T.K is shown to be journaling, nodding to him being the storyteller for 02 season. Ken is working as a detective and Cody has taken on an office Job. All of them accompanied by their Digimon partners – so what happens to the team in the movie?

Digimon Adventure 02 Story Beats

Season 2 opened up the world to show Digidestined across a variety of countries rather than localized to our main cast.

Ken’s storyline showed that other children were in the Digital World at the same time as even the 01 cast. There tends to be a running theme with new “older generation” tamers that get introduced having a somewhat vengeful approach to Digimon. Often being the source of the plot, where their severed ties with a partner Digimon takes on an antagonist role.

This includes Ken himself during the 02 show. But for the 01 cast, Digimon Adventure Tri added Meiko and Meicoomon, the latter of which ended up becoming the last boss monster of the show. The previous movie also featured a vengeful tamer that lost her partner Digimon as she grew up. Menoa and partner Morphomon took on the aged up Season 1 cast in the Bonds Kizuna Digimon movie. Leading to Tai and Matt taking her and Eosmon down with their Bond Digivolutions.

Supporting the card game

All of the above have been featured in some way, shape or form in the card game. And the newest movie is no exception. US movie goers were given the opportunity to get movie packs containing 3 out of a 16 card pool of promos for the movie cast and Digimon. BT16 reveals in the east also provide new support to the 02 cast Digimon.
