Mortal Kombat 1 is in the midst of getting its first round of DLC, focusing on super-powered characters from across other media. First, we saw Omni-Man in MK 1 get added, but our next fighter is coming up soon. It’s going to be Peacemaker in MK 1. We’ve just learnt that this new release is going to be a bit more special too.

While fighting game crossover characters often do a great job taking moves from their source material, voices can be a different story. There are soundalikes, there are eerily silent characters, it can get dicey. Even among the MK 1 DLC characters, there are some different picks for voice actors. We’ve gotten confirmation that Peacemaker in MK 1 will be voiced by John Cena though.

John Cena voicing Peacemaker in MK 1

In an announcement from the Game Awards, it has been revealed that John Cena will be providing the voice (and likeness) for Peacemaker in Mortal Kombat 1. This is a nice detail to the character. Already in the first batch of DLC we know that Homelander will have a different voice to the actor who portrays him in popular media. However, since there are comic book characters it isn’t the strangest to see different actors. John Cena portraying Peacemaker in MK 1 will definitely please a lot of fans though.

Peacemaker wasn’t the most prominent DC Comics character until a few years ago. The character’s inclusion in the James Gunn-led TV Show and Suicide Squad film has catapulted him to popularity though. Given his design, we can expect the Mortal Kombat 1 version of the character to take heavy inspiration from these depictions. Getting Cena in to provide the voice helps to cement that. It also adds Mortal Kombat to his recent video game credits. Along with Fortnite and a weird Overwatch role.

Peacemaker in MK 1 is due to release in February 2024. It is just a short wait for our next character. The first, Omni-Man, has already proven popular with players. We don’t have too much to go off of for his moves in MK 1 but he already looks like a fun inclusion.
