GTA 6 Release Date – When Is The New GTA Coming Out?

Rockstar Games has officially revealed GTA 6 with a brand-new, explosive trailer. It was a monumental moment for gamers the world over that was marred slightly by the trailer being leaked mere hours before Rockstar dropped it for real. It’s now in the open, and we know what the GTA 6 release date looks like in a way. It’s not good news, though – there’s quite a while to wait. It has been more than ten years since the last Grand Theft Auto game was released – when is GTA 6 coming out?

For the most part, gamers have tolerated the re-releases of Grand Theft Auto 5 that have dropped over the last ten years or so. They’ve soaked up the constant updates that Rockstar has applied to GTA Online, which has kept the series well and truly alive for several years, but all that could be coming to an end. We now know when GTA 6 is coming out, even if it’s not as specific a date as you might like…

When Is GTA 6 Coming Out?

In the short trailer that was published by Rockstar Games to showcase GTA 6, it was revealed that the game will be released globally in 2025. That’s a huge window, but rest assured that it will get narrower as time goes on and more trailers are published. At the time of writing, that means that it could be anything up to two years before we’re able to get our hands on what looks like an incredible game, but it’s okay – we’ve waited this long, what’s a little longer?

Over the last couple of years, countless leaks emerged from within the GTA 6 development project. One thing that never really surfaced for sure was the game’s launch date – or even the window. That’s what we’ve been given by Rockstar Games now – a twelve-month-long window. There are high hopes within the gaming community that it’ll launch earlier in 2025 rather than later, but it’s still a long time to wait.

And it’s an even longer wait for millions of players around the world, as it looks like GTA 6 won’t launch on PC on day one. It’s not yet known when PC will pick up Grand Theft Auto 6, but for the last two major Rockstar Games titles – Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA 5 – there has been a delay as long as two years before PC players get the game.

Will GTA 6 Be Delayed?

We’d hope that GTA 6 isn’t going to be delayed, but anything is possible. That’s likely why Rockstar Games has put such a broad window in place so far in the future – because it wants to make sure that the game is absolutely flawless before it’s officially released. In 2011, Grand Theft Auto 5 was revealed with its first trailer, and owing to a delay, it didn’t launch until late 2013. It’ll take something fairly disruptive to delay GTA 6, given how polished the first trailer looks.
