It has been claimed in a corroborated report that Verdansk is returning to Warzone in 2024. This will come as part of ‘Black Ops Gulf War’, the in-development title from Treyarch, a legendary Call of Duty development studio. It was back in December 2021 that Verdansk was removed from the game, and while it was promised to return in COD Warzone Mobile, it was never enough to satiate the fans who missed this revered map.
Now, it has been confirmed in a report by Insider Gaming that the map is set to return in 2024. It was stressed that this will be ‘by the end of’ the year, which likely means it’ll drop as part of Season 01 when Treyarch’s sixth Black Ops game comes around. That also means that the newest Warzone map – Urzikstan – will be present in the game for less than a year, taking a similar lifecycle to Al Mazrah, which dropped in November 2022 and was removed from the game this past week.

It’s what the Call of Duty community has been requesting for months. It’s widely expected that the return of Verdansk would bring about a resurgence (no pun intended) for Call of Duty: Warzone. When it was stripped from the game in 2021 and replaced with Caldera, an entire world of gamers mourned its disappearance. It has been on every COD fan’s wish list for the longest time, and according to the report published by Insider Gaming, it could be mere months away from returning.
This report was published just hours ago by Insider Gaming but has since been corroborated by CharlieINTEL. The latter publication also confirmed that Black Ops Gulf War (not the real name) will have a four-year development cycle to allow for as much polish as possible. It was recently alleged that Modern Warfare 3 (2023) had a development cycle lasting just sixteen months, which gave credence to the claim that it’s just a glorified DLC for Modern Warfare 2 (2022).
It’s not known in what capacity Verdansk will return, or how it’ll look when it does. It’s widely expected that it’ll be a like-for-like return to what existed in 2020 when the game was first released, though. It’s tough to tell – Treyarch will likely want to innovate.
