Despite recent troubles, Heroic remains one of the biggest CS2 teams in the world. The team has established itself as the second-biggest team in Denmark, only behind the monolith of Astralis. Thanks to the efforts of cadiaN and his team, it’s a tide that has been slowly turning over the last couple of years.

But now, cadiaN is gone, as are stavn and jabbi. Rumors suggest that the Heroic CS2 team is set to go fully international for the first time in its history, resulting in another death blow for national Counter-Strike.

Could Heroic go international?

With the sale of jabbi and stavn, it’s rumored that Heroic nabbed around $2 million. That’s a lot of money to play with in the current market. Right now, it seems that Heroic are looking to snatch NertZ, maden, and SunPayus from ENCE, as well as coach sAw.

This would bring the trio in alongside sjuush, with TeSeS also moving on from Heroic’s CS2 lineup. The fifth player of the rumored team is currently unknown. If true, Heroic’s first-ever international lineup has serious potential. But why is the team taking this route now?

The lack of Danish talent

One of Heroic’s main motivators for going international in CS2 is surely the lack of top Danish talent. Traditionally a hotbed of Counter-Strike prodigies, the Danish scene hasn’t been the same of late, relying on legends like dev1ce to continue carrying the torch.

After Heroic and Astralis, who are the best CS2 teams from Denmark? Preasy, led by nicoodoz, refrezh, and Altekz? Point is, it’s not a deep talent pool.

Most of the best Danish CS2 players are currently signed to Astralis. This makes it exceptionally difficult for Heroic to put together a competitive Danish team, and with ESL and BLAST partner slots disappearing in 2025, the time will come when Heroic need a functioning roster to reach Tier 1 events.

With this in mind, it totally makes sense why Heroic are exploring an international roster, and it’ll be an exciting prospect to see who they pick up over the winter break.
