Valve has just shipped a new update to CS2, and it introduces the heavily anticipated 2024 Service Medal to the competitive shooter alongside other changes.

The 2024 Service Medal will be available to obtain in Counter Strike 2 from January 1, 2024, by reaching Level 40 in the game and redeeming the medal from the main menu. Till then, players can choose to obtain the 2023 Service Medal or upgrade their existing medal for the year.

Do note that redeeming or upgrading a service medal will reset your level back to 0, and you’ll have to climb to Level 40 once again for your next service medal.

The 2024 Service Medal isn’t everything that the new CS2 update brings to the game, as it also includes a bunch of other changes including bug fixes, map improvements, and more.

There are also some quality-of-life changes that the update has introduced to the game through the update. These include the ability to add a Friend by using their friend code, a lister for multiple lobby invites, and adjusted wear values of some community stickers to better match CS:GO.

Fans can check out the official patch notes by Valve to see the full list of changes in the December 13th CS2 update.
