Escape From Tarkov is about to wipe yet again, and it’s an event that’s coming hand-in-hand with a mega-sized update: Patch 0.14. It’s one of the largest updates to the Escape From Tarkov ecosystem since Patch 0.12 which arrived in December 2021, and it’s introducing a new map, weapons, a new boss, movement changes, and more amendments and updates than you can shake a stick at. It’s a monumental content drop that’s going to change the face of the game, for a few weeks.

For a while, this update will make Escape From Tarkov one of the most popular games in the world. It’ll top the charts on Twitch and YouTube, and millions of players will be pulled back into the game to run raids, fight other players, and complete early-game quests. It’s a cycle that has rinsed and repeated itself for years, and it’s partly why Tarkov is still so popular after more than seven years on the market – it’s constantly refreshed by Battlestate Games.

What’s Coming in Patch 0.14 in Tarkov?

There’s a staggering amount of content and a dizzying number of changes being introduced in Patch 0.14. It’s one of the biggest updates to Escape From Tarkov we’ve seen in years, and it’s going to boggle the minds of both new and veteran players, for more reasons than you’d possibly imagine.

At the heart of Patch 0.14 is a brand-new map named ‘Ground Zero’, which is a ‘starter map’ aimed at low-level players. If you’re sitting between Level 1 and Level 20, you can play on Ground Zero and have a slightly more forgiving introduction to Escape From Tarkov. Outside of those levels, you can’t even access the map – unless you’re running as a Scav. There are also new quests that accompany this location.

A new boss is arriving in 0.14, too  – Kollontay. He’s a heavily-armoured, overpowered individual with dedicated guards, and he occupies sections of Streets of Tarkov, just like Kaban. Talking of Streets, a new BTR is arriving on the map, too. It’ll roam the map and stop at various locations, giving PMCs the option to buy its services, using it as a taxi, a mobile stash point, or a machine of war, enabling a cover-fire mechanic.

There Are So Many Changes Coming in 0.14

Patch 0.14 will change how Tarkov works, let’s put it that way. There has been a complete overhaul of the armour system, giving players the ability to choose and equip specific ballistic plates, rather than using a simple vest or rig and relying on a single armour value. Battlestate has changed how recoil and movement mechanics work, too. They’ve introduced vaulting and object traversal, making players more mobile than ever before.

There’s a fresh host of new weapons being brought in with Patch 0.14, along with countless changes to existing weapons. For instance, the 9A-91, VSK-94, RPD, and MCX SPEAR are all making their way into Tarkov with Patch 0.14. Shoreline, which is one of the game’s most popular maps, has had a total overhaul, with Battlestate adding new locations and updating old ones, adding in more than thirty new hidden containers and optimising the entire environment.

Outside of raids, there’s a new Achievement system, a Hall of Fame feature, and the ability to scout out the profiles of other players, seeing their stats, combat record, gear, and bio.

Finally, Battlestate has applied hundreds of fixes, quality-of-life improvements, balances, and much more. Everything from the trading system to the AI of enemy characters has been adjusted and addressed.

This is a huge update.
