A lot of attention right now is on the early 2024 fighting game tournaments, where we’ll see major circuits conclude. There’s still one more major left in December though, the FAV Cup 2023. This is a Japanese Street Fighter 6 tournament with quite a bit of hype heading into it.

Street Fighter 6 is probably the biggest fighting game of 2023. The Capcom Cup is coming up in January. However, if you can’t wait to watch more Street Fighter then the FAV Cup 2023 will be something a bit different. This is how the event will work and what you can catch at the tournament.

FAV Cup 2023

This is Street Fighter 6 event with a few different strands. The first event is a singles tournament with a familiar format to most fighting game esports events. This tournament is an invitational, with some players getting their spot from the open qualifier just a few hours before. The second strand of the event though takes a different approach.

The second side of things is a 3v3 team event. This is taking a similar form to the Street Fighter League. At the Cup we’ll see both strands of competitive Street Fighter represented. It’s a Japanese tournament taking place over December 29-30.

Singles Tournament at FAV Cup 2023

The Singles tournament at the event is going to feature 8 of the top international players. Already locked in for the event are Tokido, MenaRD, Oil King, Sako, AngryBird, Daigo, NuckleDu. These are some of the best Street Fighter 6 players, seeing who comes out on top of this bracket is going to be big for fans.

3V3 Tournament

The second side of the FAV Cup 2023 is a 3V3 tournament. Many of the same players from the Singles tournament are taking part here. They’ll be grouped into threes to represent different regions of the world. This is almost a World Cup of Street Fighter 6.

We’re weeks away from the Capcom Cup concluding. However, with major events like the FAV Cup 2023 still upcoming there’s plenty to look forward to in Street Fighter right now.
