LPL teams to watch in 2024

EDward Gaming – can the young talents deliver?

Starting the list we have EDward Gaming, who come from a somewhat disappointing 2023 season. Despite Uzi’s magical return and a roster full of veterans, the team couldn’t take the fight to the top teams. And now with a major revamp, EDG will kick off 2024 with a new mid and bot lane duo.

The positive thing is that the new players aren’t really strangers since they all come from the academy team. Leave already had some stage time last year and Fisher has always been regarded as one of the rising talents from Korea. We’ll have to see whether it will be the year of revelation for all these players. With Clearlove coming back, we might see something intriguing happening.

Team WE – Can the veterans defend their pride?

Team WE was for the majority of 2023 a mid-pack team, constantly battling for the last spots for playoffs. While I don’t see them going up by a lot with the new roster, there is still a lot of potential to be discovered, especially considering the players it gathered.

Wayward and Prince are two players who will want to prove their worth after a gloomy 2023 season, and Fofo can also fall in that category considering EDG’s stacked lineup. Iwandy is also looking for some stage time after dropping in the hierarchies of the LNG squad. Heng is the only returning member, meaning that the organization wants to invest in the talent.

It’s hard to judge how WE will perform but you should probably be keeping an eye on them as they might be a dark horse from the mid-pack.

RNG – The dark horse team

Speaking of dark horses, RNG is no. 1 pick from the LPL this season. The new bot lane of Ming and Lwx is probably among the top in the league if they are able to quickly find their footing at the start of the season. I don’t have many doubts about their top and jungle, which only leaves mid laner Tangyuan as a question mark. Last season, he suffered from a lack of experience but there have been improvements and he has been on a growing trend toward the end of the year. If he’s able to show up consistently, then RNG might be fighting for the top spots.

Ninjas in Pyjamas – Can Rookie elevate the team to new heights?

Ninjas in Pyjamas have swapped out their top side of the map, bringing together a competitive roster for the split. Not only did the organization bring in OMG’s shanji and Aki but they were able to get their hands on Rookie. Judging by the players’ recent performances and name plates, this is a great trio to have.

I’m slightly skeptical about NIP’s bot lane since I don’t think it has the same firepower as other bot laners, which is why I don’t see them as a top contender immediately. Nonetheless, they are one of the LPL teams to watch out for in 2024.
