With 2024 underway, we are marking the beginning of the first full CS2 calendar year. But what does the future hold for this year in Counter-Strike? Will the competitive scene see monumental shifts? Are any players get washed already?

We’re looking at the game itself, the esports scene, and I share my big CS2 predictions for 2024!

Liquid lose one member

Plenty is being made of the new all-star Liquid CS2 roster. Heading into 2024, they remain one of the most exciting prospects of any team, with the potential clear for all to see.

We’ve got a prediction that might surprise you. We think that things won’t quite click right away, and Liquid will end 2024 with at least one different member on the team. If we had to guess, it’d be skullz, as he seems the most disposable of the current roster.

CS2 gets an intrusive anti-cheat

It’s no secret that the CS2 cheating problem is only getting worse. As more players become convinced that others are cheating, more hop on the bandwagon.

The big problem is the lack of an intrusive anti-cheat, much like is seen in FACEIT. This is proven to massively reduce the amount of cheaters in-game, and it’s surprising that Valve hasn’t adopted it yet. VAC just isn’t doing the job right now.

However, we think 2024 is finally the year. One of our big CS2 predictions this year is that Valve will add an intrusive anti-cheat to CS2, making Premier an experience in line with FACEIT.

Astralis win a Tier 1 event

When Astralis signed jabbi and stavn from Heroic, they made themselves public enemies number one, after a series of dramatic twists and turns. However, there’s no doubt they’ve come out the other side stronger, obtaining two of the best players in the world.

Their first event together at BetBoom Dacha didn’t quite go as planned. Still, we think Astralis will take big leaps forward in 2024. In fact, one of our biggest CS2 predictions is that they’ll go on to win a Tier 1 event this year, which the organization hasn’t managed in a few years now. It may not be a Major, but it’s a start.

Cache back in Active Duty

When CS2 launched, the absence of Cache was certainly felt. Cache has been out of the Active Duty map pool for a few years now, but it remains one of the best CS maps of all time.

There’s good news on this front. The map’s creator, FMPONE, mentioned earlier in the year that work on a revamped Cache would begin after their Santorini remake was complete. Now, Santorini is out in the form of DE_THERA, so presumably Cache is on the way.

Our CS2 prediction in this regard is that Valve will make sure when Cache is finished, it makes its way into the Active Duty map pool.

NiKo get his Major

NiKo’s quest to become a Counter-Strike Major winner is one of the most interesting storylines of the last few years. It has become almost an obsession for NiKo, who remains the best player to never achieve the feat in CS.

We think he’ll change that in 2024. The PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 won’t be where it happens, though. G2 looks too inconsistent at the moment, and we think the team will make a few changes to the roster after Copenhagen.

At the end of the year is the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024. Our final CS2 prediction for 2024 is that NiKo will finally get his Major in China.
