Street Fighter has had a big year. We’re currently just a short while away from its conclusion with the Capcom Cup X. This increased attention on the fighter has driven a few orgs to expand their fighting game rosters and DRX is the latest. They’ve just announced they’re signing up Leshar, their first entry into the world of Street Fighter.
Fighters are often covered by esports orgs in a bit of a different way. Some orgs will have large rosters for one game in fighting game esports but not particularly much involvement with others. This year we’ve seen sign-ups and prize pools explode for Street Fighter 6, but there are still some major orgs that are only just making their opening moves into the game. DRX has become one of them this week, signing up Leshar to join their roster as their first Street Fighter 6 player.
Leshar Signs with DRX Esports
Leshar is a Korean Street Fighter 6 player who has just made the jump over to DRX. In the past, he’s had strong results in games like King of Fighters and FighterZ. However, it’s the new Street Fighter title that’s made this signing. While he has a history elsewhere, SF 6 is big.
The player has had some great results so far this year. Such as gaining a slot at the major conclusion to this year’s Street Fighter esports, the Capcom Cup X.
This tournament is kicking off in a few weeks, and Leshar is one of a select group who has managed to qualify. They’ve won their slot through a Korean World Warrior event. Winning national tournaments like this makes Leshar a perfect signing for DRX, a more Korean focused esports org.
DRX are an org that has mainly been known in the past for League of Legends. However, more recently they’ve expanded out into the wider world of esports. Currently, their fighting game roster is made up of a few Korean players, Knee, Chanel, Infested, and a Japanese player Poka. Leshar joins this roster as their first entry into Street Fighter 6. If he places well at this year’s Capcom Cup, DRX might have made a pretty wise signing
