Mortal Kombat 1 was one of the biggest fighting game releases of last year. Although, in the time since the game’s first release quite a few problems have presented themselves. Compared to titles like SF 6, Mortal Kombat’s support hasn’t quite felt up to par. The latest to express frustration with the game is SonicFox. According to a recent tweet, we might see SonicFox quitting Mortal Kombat 1 soon.
SonicFox is well known as a cross fighting game player. He’s won EVO for tons of the biggest fighting games but has had very strong results for the Mortal Kombat series in the past. He jumped right in with the release of Mortal Kombat 1, but with a lack of communication and some big problems with the game, we might see SonicFox Quitting Mortal Kombat in the near future.
Is SonicFox Quitting Mortal Kombat?
In a recent post to Twitter, SonicFox has expressed frustration with the current direction of Mortal Kombat. He writes “I am hopeful that it is not too late for MK1 to get back on the right track. I know there are certain things that are completely WB’s fault and not necessarily NRS, but it doesn’t change the situation we are in. If not, I will drop the game. I’ve done this many times already.”
The tweet seems to acknowledge some of the bigger problems with the game without naming them. At the moment, there’s definitely frustration over MK 1’s netcode. Plus, the a continued lack of support for things like crossplay. The esports for the title has also left a bit to be desired.
The Capcom Cup and TWT have both become huge events this year. MK has had the Po Kompetition launch, a new tournament. Although, it’s failed to really hit the same scale that we’ve seen with the Capcom Cup. Meaning those choosing to grind MK 1 at the moment don’t really have the same opportunities as those heading into the other major fighters.
Mortal Kombat 1 still has a lot of potential. Most of its major problems are fixable. Hopefully, progress can be made before too many players leave the game. Along with SonicFox quitting Mortal Kombat being threatened, other players have echoed the same sentiment.
