After a thrilling 2023, Brawl Stars has announced some of its esports plans for 2024. The main change is the return towards crowdfunding the 2024 World Finals prize pool, significantly increasing its overall amount. Additionally, the slot distribution has been changed with lesser slots for the tier two regions – a questionable change to the format.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Brawl Stars esports 2024 roadmap.

Brawl Stars World Finals 2024 returns to crowdfunding

The Brawl Stars World Finals 2023 had only $750,000 up for grabs, $250,000 less than the 2022 edition where $1 million was on the line. This was because Supercell didn’t release themed items for crowdfunding of the prize pool.

In 2024, though, this is set to change. Supercell has confirmed that the overall prize pool can be up to $2 million. While it’s not confirmed how much of this amount will be contributed by Supercell and crowdfunded, it will likely be split evenly. This means that players can purchase certain Brawl Stars World Finals-themed items in the game, a portion of whose revenue can contribute to increasing the prize pool to $2 million. These will likely be announced later in the year.

Big Changes to the Slot Distribution, why have the slots been reduced?

Twelve teams will compete in the Brawl Stars World Finals 2024. Eight of these will make it through the year-long Brawl Stars Championship while four will qualify through the Last-Chance Qualifier. The slots distribution for each region in the World Finals and the LCQ are as follows:

EMEA – World Finals: 3 | LCQ: 3
APAC – World Finals: 2 | LCQ: 2
North America – World Finals: 2 | LCQ: 2
South America – World Finals: 1 | LCQ: 2
China – LCQ: 3

As usual, the most spots have gone to the EMEA Region. It appears that Supercell is ending the distinction between East and West in the North and South American regions. Additionally, East Asia, SEA, and India have been replaced with the APAC region while reducing the overall slots in the LCQ from 16 to 12.

It’s surprising to see Supercell make this change. As Brawl Stars esports grows globally, ensuring more regional participation and diversity is key to sustaining this upward trajectory. However, it seems that this isn’t a focus for Supercell in 2024.

The first Brawl Stars Championship will kick off in March 2024. The schedule for it is as follows:

Championship Challenge: March 1 to 3
Monthly Qualifiers: March 9 and 10
Monthly Finals: March 30 and 31

Supercell has pledged more support to third-party tournament organizers. The exact details of this weren’t announced, though. This could be a good sign as Supercell might work with local TOs in different regions to grow the game.

Additionally, the developer has told fans to expect mode changes during the 2024 esports season.
