The VALORANT 8.02 Public Beta Environment (PBE) has been canceled, per a mod on the official PBE subreddit. This news comes after the Tencent-owned developer said yesterday that it would laying off over 500 staff worldwide, reducing its workforce by around 11 percent.

VALORANT Patch 8.02 PBE Canceled, Is the Update Going To Be Delayed?

In a Reddit post on the r/ValorantPBE community, user u/Pruvided, a mod in the community, stated that the 8.02 PBE has been canceled. The reason for this has not been clearly stated. According to the user, this could be due to the recent layoffs that have taken place at Riot Games. People working on VALORANT have also been affected by the layoffs.

“Our vision for the future is bold and our commitment to our core live games – League of Legends, VALORANT, Teamfight Tactics, and Wild Rift – is more ambitious than ever. We’re prioritizing these teams so they can focus on the content, features, and updates that directly respond to what you’ve been asking for,” Riot Games said.

Reddit user u/Pruvided believes that the VALORANT 8.02 PBE could be delayed to the first week of February. If it is completely scarped, players who are a part of the VALORANT PBE can play Patch 8.03 on the 9th of February. With Patch 8.01 around the corner, it will be interesting to see the changes in the competitive meta due to the upcoming update.
