Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore extraction shooter with punishing mechanics and one of the steepest learning curves in the industry. It’s an intense game that’s a borderline military sim title, but regardless of that, it’s appreciated by millions of gamers around the world. In this guide, we’ll be outlining a full walkthrough of the Customs map in Escape from Tarkov. It’s one of the easiest maps to learn and is considered a ‘starter map’ for some, but it’s still helpful to have a guide.

From the hot spots to watch out for to the full list of Customs tasks, we’ve compiled everything into one handy list. If you want to know where to find the best Customs loot or where the easiest Customs extracts are, then read on. There’s plenty to learn in our Escape from Tarkov Customs map guide.

Escape from Tarkov Customs Map

Customs is a great map for low-level players – but it can quickly become challenging under the right circumstances. Many of the game’s earliest tasks can be (or must be) completed on Customs, and it has a solid spread of loot locations and some easy-to-learn extracts. It’s quite a sizeable map, too – there’s plenty to see in Customs and some detailed points of interest to explore. Once the wipe is a few weeks in, it becomes a bit of a breeding ground for high-level player-vs-player combat, but we’ll let you know where those fights are most likely to happen in this Tarkov Customs map guide.

Here’s a brilliant snapshot of the Customs map:

Let’s start breaking that map down.

Customs Extracts in Tarkov

Customs has some of the easiest extraction points to learn, and so few of them have tricky requirements. Like most extraction spots in Tarkov, Customs’ exfil sites are spread out around the outer edges of the map, with a few exceptions. There’s only one exfil that’s locked behind a key-controlled door, and that’s ‘ZB-013’, which requires the Factory Emergency Exit key. There’s also a car-based extract point at ‘Dorms’ which has a paywall. If you’re trying to learn the extracts on Customs, consider running ‘Scav’ characters or play an offline raid or two with a map.

Best Loot Spots in Customs

There are a few locations you’ll want to prioritise when it comes to finding loot in Customs. Here are the best spots to find certain items:

‘Crackhouse’ (Glass): medical items, intelligence, food and drink
‘Stronghold’: medical items, weapons, food and drink, crafting items
‘Warehouses’: weapons, armour, computer equipment, crafting items
‘Garage’ (Streamer Room): food and drink, computer equipment, crafting items, medical items

Customs has consistent loot across the board, though. Almost everywhere you look, you’re guaranteed to find something good. There are many sites to probe for quest items and crafting components.

Risk Areas in Customs for PvP

Mostly, the areas where you’ll find the most loot are also where you’ll find the most fights. There is always a fight taking place at Dorms to the North of the map, and it’s also where you’ll find many early-game quests and tasks. There’s a lot of open ground in Customs, so you’ll need to keep your head on a swivel and remain aware of your surroundings if you want to make it out without falling short.

Tarkov Customs Map Tasks

There are many early-game tasks in Escape from Tarkov that’ll send you to Customs. They’re mostly basic tasks that can be completed with ease, but some are more challenging and frustrating, such as Setup, which requires players to kill PMC characters with a specific weapon while wearing pre-determined clothing.

Here are some of the best Customs tasks in Tarkov:

Background Check (Prapor)
Delivery from the Past (Prapor)
BP Depot (Prapor)
Bad Rep Evidence (Prapor)
Shaking up the Teller (Prapor)
The Punisher – Part 3 (Prapor)
Polikhim Hobo (Prapor)
Big Customer (Prapor)

There’s plenty to keep you occupied on Customs, that’s for sure.

Tarkov Customs Map Bosses

If you’re playing a lot of raids on Customs, you’ll quickly learn about the bosses that can appear on the map. Firstly, there’s Reshala, who usually spawns in Dorms but can also appear in ‘New Gas’. He has a team of crack soldiers guarding him, but he’s one of the game’s easier bosses to defeat. Then there’s a chance that ‘The Goons’ can spawn on Customs. This is a tough-to-kill trio of hardcore soldiers with a range of tactics and some powerful weapons.

Finally, if you’re running at night, you could bump into the Cultists. These shady, mysterious individuals will charge at you with poisoned knives or shoot at you from the darkness while making no noise as they move.

That’s essentially all you need to know about Customs – good luck with your raids!
