Pokemon GO Lucky Egg is a reward for leveling up. At certain levels, Niantic hands players specific items to help with the grind, and the eggs grant 2x EXP for a player for 30 real-time minutes.

This also means that if a player was to log off after using the egg, the timer would continue to tick down, so players need to make sure they’re getting the most out of their Lucky Eggs.

How to get the most EXP from your Pokemon GO Lucky Egg

The Niantic recommended, and community approved way of getting the absolute most from your Egg requires a few helping hands. Friendship ranks with other players, specifically Ultra and Best Friends ranks give large chunks of EXP. Best Friend ranking, achieved after 90 days, grants 100,000 EXP upon reaching it. If you can time multiple of these within 1 lucky egg then its an easy 200,000 EXP per Best Friend.

For those without extensive friend lists, the recommended Lucky Egg grinds are to use a lure at a pokestop during a community event with increased encounter rates. Players should then perform as many Excellent and Curveball catches as possible within the 30 minutes to get the most experience. Alternatively, players can catch ahead of time a whole stack of easy to evolve pokemon such as Caterpie or Eevees. Popping a lucky egg and evolving as many of them as you can for double EXP is another safe and consistent way to get lots of EXP in one go, especially if you haven’t practiced your Curveballs!
