Following a decade of streaming on the platform and building a content creation empire, Pokimane has announced that she’s leaving Twitch. This shocking revelation comes out of the blue, leaving fans wildly speculating on what comes next for the 27-year-old superstar streamer. In the ten years that Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys has been streaming on Twitch, she’s racked up almost 10 million followers and in many ways has become the face of the platform. Is Pokimane leaving Twitch for a competing platform?
There have been claims surfacing on social media that Pokimane has accepted a massive $75 million streaming deal on Kick.com. This is Twitch’s most tenacious competitor these days, and numerous streamers have been tempted away from Twitch by huge deals backed by Kick’s betting-based owners. It would be something hypocritical if Pokimane does move to Kick, as in the past she has been outspoken against gambling on Twitch. Moving to Kick, which is supported by Stake.com, would be an incredibly controversial move for that fact alone.
All For The Bag?
To make it clear, Pokimane has not said what’s coming next. She hasn’t stressed whether she’s leaving streaming altogether or relocating, but it seems unlikely she’d so suddenly and readily abandon her primary revenue stream. She has effortlessly pulled in an audience of millions over the last few years – it’s hard to see a world where she’d abandon that out of nowhere. That’s the biggest concern amongst her followers, with the most die-hard fans crying out for more information as Twitch acknowledged her departure on Twitter.
Last year, Pokimane touched on the future of her content creation career, leaning into a suggestion that she’d ‘done all she could’ with Twitch. At the time of writing, Pokimane’s last stream was five days ago. Recently, she’d been enjoying playing the likes of Palworld on stream, taking advantage of the game’s skyrocketing success – as many other streamers have.
As one of the most impactful creators in the business, any platform to land Pokimane would undoubtedly benefit from her pull. She’d bring over hundreds of thousands of fans in an instant – but that’s all just conjecture as, in truth, nobody other than Pokimane (and her team) knows what’s coming next. Will she try to secure the bag on Kick.com like xQc, will she relocate to YouTube like Dr Disrespect, or will she give up on streaming entirely and move into something new?
The fans are desperate to know more.
