The fun in Among Us comes from the unknown, not knowing just who has been given the role of Imposter and who is the Crewmate. It’s hard to deny that being imposter in Among Us is often the more fun role! Is there a clear method for how to be Imposter in Among Us? The game is primarily focused on giving you a random role on each game. Although, it sometimes feels like others have a system to be imposter more often.
Some players seem to have a fantastic track record with the random luck, getting imposter a lot. Others get a bad run where they’re stuck as a crewmate getting killed off early every round they play. If you’re trying to excite things a bit, knowing how to be Imposter in Among Us every time would definitely liven things up! It’s a topic we’ve ever seen some esports streamers use. Seemingly using some tools to make sure they’re the murderer in each and every game. Is there a way for players to replicate this and chose which side of things they play every time?
Can You be Imposter Every Time?
The main way to be imposter in Among Us is luck. When you launch into the game, it will randomly decide two players to be the imposter. Players have no influence in this. It isn’t something you can set up when picking random games. It’s just getting lucky with which role you get assigned.
Given the nature of the game and sizes of lobbies, its common to get crewmate the vast majority of the time. This is by design. The game’s core mechanic is gradually figuring out who the imposter is. If players were able to choose which role they played, this would probably get in the way of that gameplay.
Another reason why there isn’t an easy method for how to be imposter in Among Us, is matchmaking. Each game needs enough players in it to give the imposters people to play against. The format of the game means that we need a lot more crewmates than imposters. That doesn’t mean you can’t narrow your matches down to just the impsoters ones though.
How to be Imposter in Among Us
That’s why you don’t get a free choice of role, but can you brute force it? The game doesn’t have an official way to queue up simply for imposter. However, by being a bit of a bad sport you can essentially be the villain every time.
If you don’t mind messing up the game’s matchmaking, one method some players use is basically just to rage quit. Players queue up, if they don’t get the role they want they quit and try again. This is time consuming, and it kind of ruins the game for everyone else. It isn’t really recommended, but it’s a way to be imposter in Among Us in most games.
Other players have used mods or other versions of the game that allow you to decide who to be. These tools aren’t part of the actual game though, so you shouldn’t use them in online lobbies.
Does Changing Color Increase Your Chances?
One persistent rumour since among Us first shot to popularity is that you can influence your role through character color. Some people think the method to be imposter is to rapidly change your character color while waiting for the game to begin. However, this doesn’t work! The cosmetic items are just there for decoration, some aren’t even available if you’re playing Among Us for free.
Changing color can’t make you imposter. It doesn’t do anything. This is basically just busy work until the game itself starts. There’s no correlation between your color and how to be imposter in Among Us.
If you we’re looking to paly imposter-only games, this is all probably a bit disappointing. However, the game really needs its odds of getting each role to work as it does. Only playing Imposter is really experiencing just half the game, sticking with the roles as you get them is much better.
