The survival game celebrates its full release in February after a year in Early Access. Now we know more about new content

After a successful release with over 400,000 simultaneously active players at times, Sons of the Forest went pretty quiet after a short time. Although the developers continued to release regular updates, the number of players has been in the low five-digit range for some time now.

Maybe the upcoming release of version 1.0 on February 22, 2024  can change that. A new trailer now shows some exciting features.

What’s in Update 1.0?

If you look closely, you can discover several new features in the approximately one-minute video, which we would like to list briefly:

Racons: You could already encounter these small predators in the predecessor The Forest. It’s possible that their fur is used to make high-quality equipment.

New mutants: Two new, terrifying enemies can be spotted in the trailer, and they look pretty strong.

Glider launcher: A platform can launch you into the air from the ground. So you don’t have to climb a mountain to fly.

New cave area: The trailer also shows several underground areas that you have probably not been able to explore yet.

GPS for the golf cart: A GPS has now been built into the vehicle to help you navigate.

New character: For a short time you can see a figure sitting on the ground waving a flare.

The release date for the update was already announced by the developers in November  Even then, some new content was promised for the full version. So the story will also be expanded and adapted, and Timmy, for example, will play a bigger role. That’s why Shawn Ashmore has recorded lines of dialog for his character

Although we already saw the game on the right track in the patch 7 test video, only the full release on February 22 will show whether the survival game has actually become as good as hoped. As soon as the full patch notes are available, you will of course find them here.
