The beginning of the year is a quieter time for some esports, but it’s where fighting games really shine. We’ve got the end-of-year events for multiple huge games going on right now, next up is Guilty Gear Strive. The AWT 2024 Group Stage have had its Group Stage layout revealed!

It’s this first stage where we’ll see the field narrowed down. The tournament is already a collection of some of the best Guilty Gear Strive players. This opening round will see them compete in smaller groups before we move forward to the Arc World Tour final bracket. How will it work and what are the groups we’ll see in the final tournament?

AWT 2024 Group Stage Seeding Announced

The final stage of the AWT 2024 Group Stage will be the finals, beginning with the Group Stage on March 23rd. The groups are putting players into four different sections. Each will compete in matches, with the top player moving onto the winners bracket and the runner-up going to the losers side of the bracket.

The final two players in each group are going to be eliminated fully! In similar tournaments recently like the Capcom Cup, we’ve seen some players get knocked out since they were stuck in a much more difficult group. How does it balance out for the AWT Finals 2024 Group Stage? These are the groups we’re seeing.

AWT Groups

A Group

Daru_I-No.

B Group

GOBOU
Tyurara

C Group

Leffen
PepperySplash

D Group

These groups are definitely quite fairly balanced. There isn’t a single standout that is particularly stacked compared to the others in the AWT 2024 Group Stage. We’re seeing some really strong players throughout. Group C in particular might be interesting to some, seeing Leffen competing after his EVO win.

The Arc World Tour Finals will conclude the entire year of competitive Guilty Gear. This group stage is the very beginning of the conclusion. Hopefully, even this initial stage shows off how far the meta of the game has come this year.
