Is Helldivers 2 Crossplay?

Arrowhead Game Studios released its longly awaited sequel to their top-down shooter coop game, Helldivers with Helldivers 2. The sequel, released on February 8th and to the surprise of the developers, has acclaimed international fame in the gaming space as gamers on the PS5 and PC have joined together to spread liberty and Democracy across the galaxy in an unexpected multitude.

With the large scale of support from both platforms, it begs the question, is Helldivers 2 crossplay compatible?

Does Helldivers 2 have crossplay?

Gamers would be happy to hear that  Helldivers 2 is crossplay compatible between Playstation 5 and Microsoft Windows systems.

That means that when searching through public lobbies, you would be paired with players playing on the PC (Steam) and people playing on PlayStation regardless of your input, whether on the controller or a keyboard and mouse. It’s great news for friends who play on PlayStation and PC, as you can invite friends who play on a different platform except Xbox consoles. So, if you’re the player who likes to show off their flashy armor sets, weapon wraps, and your Helldivers 2 Super Citizen Edition status to their friends across PC and PS5, then you’re in luck!

How do you Crossplay between PS5 and Microsoft Windows PC?

Crossplay is automatically enabled in Helldivers 2, but you must manually add your friends across PC or PS5. Adding friends and joining squads is pretty seamless in Helldivers 2, and this can be done on the social page in the game’s menu.

If you want to add your friends between PS5 and PC (Steam), look at the bottom of the list, where you can generate a Friend Code. The friend code is eight digits, and you would need to get it from your friend on the other platform to enter the code in the search bar at the top of the social menu. After this, your friend’s name should appear, and you then select your friend from the list and send a friend request. Your request will be seen in their social menu under friend request; all they need to do is accept it.

You can then proceed to invite them to your squad.

Is there Crossplay with Xbox consoles?

Helldivers 2 is exclusive to the PS5 and Windows PC (steam); hence, you cannot play with your friends on Xbox. However, with the challenge of maintaining peace in the Helldivers universe from the Automatons and Terminids, gamers on both PC and PS5 are calling on the developers Arrowhead Game Studios and their publisher, PlayStation Studios, to release the game on Xbox consoles for additional support in keeping the peace.

Is there Crossplay with Old Gen consoles?

Helldivers 1 was released on the PS4 and Windows PC in 2015, and with the release of the PS5 with its backward compatibility functionality, it allowed Old Gen and New Gen Consoles of Playstation to play together and crossplay with friends on PC. However, with the release of Helldivers 2, there has yet to be a PS4 release, despite players’ major interest in using Old Gen Consoles.

There has been no official statement from the developers, Arrowhead Game Studios, and their publisher, PlayStation Studios, about a possible PS4 release, but gamers remain hopeful of joining the fight for liberty.
