We’re fast approaching a new season of Fortntie, which means news is coming thick and fast about what to expect. Players scouring through the files of the game often find new content quite a while before it actually releases. Most recently, an FNCS OG tournament of some kind has been discovered!

Along with other recent Fortnite leaks, we’re getting news about the return of Fortnite OG. While it doesn’t directly relate to the mode returning to the game, the API now has references to a few tournaments that Epic is working on. These include the return of Ranked Cups for Chapter 5 Season 2, but also curiously a Fortnite OG FNCS. Dubbed FNCS OG Chaos.

Fortnite OG ran last year, but it didn’t have an FNCS. It took place in the downtime after the end of the season. We got a few in-game Cups, named after content creators. However, it was a break from the highest level of competitive Fortnite. So just what is this tournament?

Fortnite FNCS OG Chaos Leaks

In recent leaks, pointers were found within Fortnite for an upcoming tournament called FNCS OG Chaos. While it’s normal for references to pop up in files and not really go anywhere, it would be strange for a completely fictional never-before-held tournament to be used as a placeholder.

On the surface, this appears to be an FNCS-style event for Fortnite OG. We even know a little about the format thanks to the references in-game. It will apparently be a tournament with two different stages, followed by a final.

We’ve known for a while that Fortnite OG is returning in one form or another. We haven’t been expecting news on that anytime soon though. This newest reference in the files is one of our first hints Epic is actively working on OG once again. It seems they’re even planning on making it part of Fortnite esports this time around!

The Chaos part of the name adds a bit of confusion to things though. Clearly, this isn’t one of our four FNCS Majors that are running this year. The 2024 FNCS calendar is already set. It’s possible Fortnite OG is returning after the FNCS wraps up, with its own smaller FNCS event planned.

It would have been a lot of fun to see how competitive played in OG last year. If the return of the game mode means we’re getting a fresh tournament, that could be interesting We might even see some older names that no longer rank as the best Fortnite players returning to try it out with the meta going back to Chapter 1.
