Apparently Bethesda is currently hard at work in the background for the upcoming DLC. We classify what this says about the release

Have you already played through Starfield and are now waiting for new content as an experienced star wanderer? The official modding tools are probably still a few months away (we still have the best mods for you!) and the first addon is probably coming too.

Or will Shattered Space be released very soon after all? So far there is still no release date for the first official DLC for the sci-fi role-playing game. But now there are solid indications that Bethesda is cooking up something tasty in the background to serve to hungry fans soon.

SteamDB misses nothing

Bethesda itself has, of course, not announced anything that would suggest an imminent release of Shattered Space or other additional content. But there is the SteamDB website, which is known for logging every little event on Steam

According to

SteamDB, numerous changes have been made to the Starfield game files stored on Steam over the past few days. The most noticeable new feature: The DLC section has suddenly been given a new entry called Unknown App 2721670

Hui, that’s a creative name for a DLC! Just kidding: Of course, it’s most likely Shattered Space or some other additional content that doesn’t have an official name yet.

What do the changes say about the release?

Let’s come to the most important point and the final question: What do such changes on Steam mean for the release of a product, in this case the DLC?

The short answer: Nothing tangible.

Fans of Hollow Knight: Silksong can confirm this from painful experience. The Metroidvania, which seems to be in development for all eternity, has also been according to SteamDB updated several times in the past few days, but nothing points to an imminent release. (sniff…)

The longer answer: Basically, it simply depends on the structure with which the respective development studio works. There are teams that upload even small changes to Steam immediately, which creates a very active update history on SteamDB without an immediate release being planned.

However, it is also possible that Bethesda, for example, only makes such extensive changes when something is really planned in terms of new content.

Our conclusion is therefore cautiously optimistic: At the moment, we’ll have to wait and see – but di

Definitely we’ll hear something about further patches soon enough. After all, Bethesda has announced that it will deliver new updates for the role-playing game every six weeks or so in 2024. Just recently, patch 1.9.67 massively increased the FPS on many systems.
