Dataminers recently uncovered an image showing Rebirth Island in Warzone’s files. This indicates something related to the iconic map coming soon to Call of Duty. It was promised last year that Rebirth Island would resurface in Warzone, a revelation that filled most of the game’s battle royale lovers with eagerness and anticipation. First introduced to Warzone in 2020, Rebirth Island has long proven to be a fan-favourite staple of the game’s ecosystem – and it could be returning as early as this year.

There are widespread expectations that Rebirth Island will be added to Warzone’s circulation in Season 4. This would place the map’s release very close to the launch of Call of Duty 2024, which for now is being dubbed ‘Black Ops Gulf War’. At this point, players are chomping at the bit to get back into Rebirth Island, and the image dug up by dataminers is adding more fuel to the fire of their collective excitement.

Rebirth Island Being Reborn

Rebirth Island’s legacy can be traced back to 2010’s Black Ops when the map was worked into the game’s campaign. Since then, it has resurfaced numerous times, most notably in 2020 when it was added to the Warzone rotation. It’s a small-form map that features punchy, high-octane fights and plenty of verticality. It has since been replaced by the likes of Vondel and Fortune’s Keep as smaller, faster ‘main map’ alternatives in Warzone, but a return of Rebirth could knock those maps out of the equation entirely.

It’s one of the biggest asks of the community – they all want Rebirth Island to resurface in some way.

According to some users and insiders, Rebirth Island will feature a string of changes that will make the map more dynamic. For instance, there will be spontaneous events that alter the face of the map, like catastrophic explosions or buildings collapsing. It has been said that Rebirth Island will feature a progressive and dynamic day-night cycle – and a weather cycle – that’ll change as the game goes on, forcing players to adapt to heavy rain or looming darkness, for example.

However it emerges, most Call of Duty Warzone players will just be happy that the map has finally returned. While the larger Warzone maps have their place in the market, nothing excites battle royale fans like Rebirth Island. It’s not yet known when Rebirth Island is coming back to Call of Duty Warzone, but the consensus is that we’ll have it by Fall 2024.
