Alcatraz, Shoot House to return to CoD Mobile soon, Activision confirms

The launch of Warzone Mobile is just a few days away. The game will launch on March 21 and ahead of the worldwide release, Activision is removing two of the most iconic maps, Alcatraz and Shoot House, from CoD Mobile. Unsurprisingly, the decision has brought a harsh reaction from the CoD Mobile community, prompting Activision to post a clarification.

CoD Mobile: Alcatraz and Shoot House are set to return

This is not the first time that Alcatraz has been removed from CoD Mobile. In 2021 also, Activision had removed the map from the game without informing the players about the actual reason behind it. The map holds a long legacy as it was introduced on October 15, 2020. In 2020, only 40 players could drop into the fast-paced map, but in Warzone Mobile, the map will have 48 players.

Once Warzone Mobile is launched, players will get to see one main map, the iconic Verdansk with 120 players. The players will also see Alcatraz in the form of Rebirth Island and will have 48 people dropping on the map. For the unversed, Verdansk was initially introduced to CoD Mobile. 120 players drop onto the battlefield and loot and fight the enemies to survive till the end to win. Even if a player gets eliminated in the middle, they get a second chance.

As far as Alcatraz or the Rebirth Island are concerned, players drop down on a smaller map. The map is full of buildings, so hiding from the enemies is important. In case a player dies, they can respawn as long as one of their players is still alive.

With a lot of harsh reactions from the CoD Mobile community, Activision issued a clarification about the decision. In a tweet, the company confirmed that the maps will be returning later this year, squishing rumors that Activision wants players to shift to Warzone Mobile.

We wanted to let you know that Shoot House and Alcatraz will soon be leaving Call of Duty®: Mobile. This is not permanent, both will be returning later this year, rotating in and out each season like other playlists in the game.

Warzone Mobile will be available for Android and iOS devices from March 21, 2024. The game’s pre-registration has already started. The ones who have pre-registered for the game will get rewards from Activision for backing the game. Other players will not be able to receive.
