Another major signing has taken place this week, with Nouns Esports expanding their Street Fighter 6 roster. The team has been moving into fighting game and they’ve decided to add Smug to their roster. We’ll see Smug represent this new org at upcoming events, with Noun stepping up to sponsor the player attending even more events.

Over the last year, games like Street Fighter 6 and other recent releases have really upped the attention on fighting games. While not traditionally one of the most sustainable areas for competition for esports orgs, bigger circuits like the Capcom Cup have changed that. Smug signing with Nouns Esports is just one of a few recent signings that show interest is growing in this side of esports.

Smug Signs with Nouns for Future FCG Events

Nouns is expanding their fighting game roster with the addition of Smug. He’s a Street Fighter player who has previously been part of Rise. Smug has had decent results lately and is looking to step things up in 2024’s tournaments. That might start with the first event he’ll be representing Nouns Esports at.

The first big event for Smug is going to be EVO Japan 2024. The Japanese side of the biggest fighting game event is offering quite a few major events this year. Perhaps the biggest though is Street Fighter 6 which is leading registrations. Smug will be one of these players showing up to compete.

Smug has previously won EVO events as well as growing in results for Street Fighter 6. He’s likely looking to step up this time and start to rack up even more top 8 finished over 2024. With a new signing and backing to attend as many tournaments as possible, that’s looking much more likely. It’s great to see teams continuing to expand their fighting game rosters. With fighters being some of the most popular games right now, we’re seeing more and more orgs get involved.
