Following a 3-0 loss at the hands of G2 Esports, we spoke with MAD Lions’ Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság to get his thoughts on his side’s short-lived MSI 2023 run, the team’s inconsistencies and why he feels at home with MAD Lions.

To begin with, what are your general thoughts on the tournament?

It’s kind of disappointing to see that the Western teams are kind of bad in comparison to Asian teams, usually it was a little bit closer but this time I don’t think it’s going to be. So that’s pretty sad. Overall I’m kind of disappointed with the run we had, but it is what it is. I’m at least grateful that we could be here.

MAD has been fairly up and down so far this season, what do you think is the team’s real level?

I think that we are really inconsistent because we have a lot of issues when it comes to getting well with each other and sometimes it just explodes and then we have to build it all up again, that’s why it looks like this.

I think at this MSI we kind of collapsed again and now in Summer we’re going to try to build it up again.

I think you were hard on yourself with your tweet after the series, your Aphelios in game two was very strong. Did you feel you had to try and 1v9?

No. I felt really bad playing the games because I felt like I was lagging when it comes to FPS. I did a lot of misplays mechanically and that frustrated me. I think I could have played a lot better.

There have been some questionable baron attempts by both MAD and other teams so far at MSI, why do you think this is happening?

People just don’t know how to progress the game and when they don’t know they just flip a Nashor, then it’s a coin flip.

On a different note, what was the inspiration for your Elyoya/Nisqy fanfiction after the recent drama?

Usually the fanfictions have to be about someone close to me so that they don’t get angry, so it was pretty easy. Now it was Elyoya and Nisqy, they had a drama, so, I had to make this one.

So you wrote it, not ChatGPT?

Definitely not AI, AI cannot do stuff like this, sexual stuff is banned.

You had plenty of success on your first spell with MAD Loins, then a tough yeah with Vitality before once again doing well with MAD so far in 2023. What’s different about playing on MAD?

For me it’s definitely the environment, in MAD I feel at home. I like the people around me and I enjoy working with them. I’d say that in Vitality I had fun, but there were a lot of issues that were unfixable.

Finally, your thoughts on G2’s chances for the rest of MSI?

I think G2 has a chance against BLG honestly, I think they can win. But really don’t see them winning against Gen.G or T1 – but I would be happy to be proven wrong!
