The ARC World Tour has just revealed full details for the latest year of competitive fighting games. This is the official circuit run by Arc System Works for most of their major titles. This year’s tournament has had a few changes, both to its format and even the games that Arc are including. The ARC World Tour 2023 reveal has confirmed what we can expect for Guilty Gear Strive this year though.
ARC World Tour 2023
The ARC World Tour in 2023 is going to be the premier event for Guilty Gear Strive. It’s kicking off in 2023 before a finale takes us through to 2024. There are 12 qualifier events in the first round. This secures 12 of the Strive players their spot at the finals.
Along with the outright tournament winters, there are two more ways to get a slot at the finals. Players can also qualify through tour points. These three extra slots are going to the players on the leaderboard with the highest total points that aren’t already invited. The final slot out of the 16 players is coming from a Last Chance Qualifier, where one more fighter can earn their spot.
We’ve had the full list of included events for the Arc World Tour released too. This includes some obvious picks like EVO, but there are some smaller events on here too. What’s particularly exciting is how international the events are. Players from all over the world have a shot at making it to the final.
Where’s DNF Duel?
The Arc World Tour 2023 announcement was exciting for Guilty Gear fans. Arc makes loads of the best anime fighting games though, and there are a few of those which aren’t going to be featured anymore. The most notable is DNF Duel.
DNF Duel is a newer game from Arc System Works, only releasing in 2022. Despite this, it’s already seemingly been dropped from the Arc World Tour in 2023. DNF definitely didn’t take off as quickly as titles like Guilty Gear. It probably can’t match the sales of FighterZ either. However, with new content still coming fans did expect a bit of a longer life for the game. While it doesn’t seem to be a part of the ARC World Tour, it might get a different event later, so fans can keep an eye out.
