Days ago still a rumour, today reality: What was already hinted at in the form of rumours, Sony has now confirmed via blog post: The big PlayStation show is coming.

At first there were only murmurs on the internet among connoisseurs of the PlayStation scene, but today it is a certainty: The long-awaited PlayStation Showcase will take place next week on 24 May 2023. It will probably include several new titles for Playstation 5 as well as PS Virtual Reality 2.

The most important facts about the PlayStation Showcase at a glance:

Date: 24 May 2023

Time: 22h German time

Length: Over 60 Minutes

Where to watch? On PlayStation’s official channels on (Youtube) and (Twitch)

Sony thus confirmed on (Twitter) as well as (in a post on the official PlayStation blog) all speculation that the date would be Wednesday or Thursday at the end of May.

What will be seen?

This brings us to what we don’t know. Because Sony hasn’t said anything official about exact content away from the platform.

The only tangible hint from the Sony cosmos comes from Christian Svensson, Head of Global Third Party Relations at PlayStation. He wrote in response to Sony’s post that the public will see some great games, small and large, from around the world

We will have some great games, big and small, from all over the world. I’m excited. teamMay https://t.co/BlRIAuL4pu

But it doesn’t reveal any specific names either, or even raise hopes of a Playstation 5 Pro announcement. If the curious person is willing to trust sources off the official path, the only option is to look at the numerous insiders around Sony’s hardware and software brands. Here, the showcase has been eagerly awaited for weeks and predicted ahead of time,

Which titles do insiders expect?

According to industry insiders such as (Joe Miller) or (Twitter user RinoTheBouncer) several sequels to hits such as Ghost of Tshushima or Marvel’s Spider-Man as well as new brands from well-known developers such as Destiny makers Bungie are supposedly part of the event. Other titles they say are possible include:

Wolverine

Stellar Blade

Silent Hill 2 Remake

The Last of Us: Multiplayer

Death Stranding 2

Sony Santa Monica (God of War)

Bend Studios (Days Gone)

Playstation 5 Pro in the making?

According to Playstation leaker Tom Henderson this question is (clearly answerable with Yes ). He also claims that devkits will be sent to first-party studios as soon as possible. So following this narrative, a announcement of the Playstation 5 Pro at the showcase would also be a conceivable option for Sony.

What are you expecting from Sony’s big show? Do you believe the insiders with their predictions about sequels and new titles? Is there a game missing from their lists that you think is an extremely likely candidate to make an appearance? Do you think a Playstation 5 Pro is necessary? Feel free to drop us your thoughts on the now officially scheduled Playstation showcase in the comments!
