Kenny “kennyS” Shcrub has announced his retirement from Counter Strike : Global Offensive, taking the stage at the Blast.tv Paris Major 2023 after GamerLegion beat Heroic in the Semi-final.
The 28 year-old French AWPer has finally hung his mouse after an illustrious 11 year-old career in Counter Strike : Global Offensive where he first started to play for VeryGames back in 2012. After hopping several teams here and there, Schrub rose to prominence after he joined Team EnvyUs and led them to their first ever Major championship in 2015 at the DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca in Romania.
After being placed on the bench by G2 in March 2021, kennyS has been unable to compete for a period of 18 months citing burnout. The decision was made after the French AWPer, who had struggled with mental health concerns for years, had a string of disappointing tournament results and a downward trend in his overall performance.
The departure brings to a close the French AWPer’s nearly six-year-long tenure with G2, which began with the formation of the so-called “French superteam” in February of 2017 alongside Richard “shox” Papillon, Dan “apEX” Madesclaire, and Nathan “NBK-” Schmitt.
kennyS was instrumental in G2’s journey to victory at ESL Pro League Season 5, DreamHack Masters Malmo, and DreamHack Open Tours 2017, the only time when he played out in his prime form which later seemed to have fallen shy of being active in the scene and not being able to reciprocate top-notch results.
With his then exit from G2 Esports, kennyS joined the forces of Nathan “NBK-” Schmitt, Kévin “misutaaa” Rabier, Ali “hAdji” Haïnouss, and Jordan “Python” Munck-Foehrle under Falcons.
Together with HEET, Falcons had established themselves as one of the most impressive full French rosters competing in CS:GO thus far in 2018. Shrub’s last ride was with Falcons which saw the French side failing to qualify for the last major of CS:GO with Blast.tv.
