Last week, Nacon and Appeal Studios released a new making of video for Gangs of Sherwood. In it, Game Director Andrea Di Stefano and Art Director Michael Defroyennes talk about the adaptation of the Robin Hood legend.

Most of us know the story of Robin Hood through the numerous adaptations in film and television. Now Appeal Studios is venturing into a video game adaptation of the legends.

In addition to the well-known characters and settings, Gangs of Sherwood also tackles less famous aspects of the story. These include, for example, Guy of Gisborne, who is charged with Robin’s murder, and the Prioress of Kirklees, who is blamed for the death of the thieving hero.

This ancient setting, however, is given a good dash of sci-fi in Gangs of Sherwood. When the knights returned from the Crusades, they were said to have brought back a powerful stone called the Lionheart. This is able to transform metal and give it magical properties. The resulting technical progress also changes the type of warfare that makes up the gameplay of the action adventure.

As Robin, Marian, Friar Tuck and Little John, you have dedicated yourself to the revolution and want to put an end to the hustle and bustle of the Sheriff of Nottingham.

You’ll find out exactly how this is going to happen in the autumn when Gangs of Sherwood is released for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
