Many fans fear that support for the shooter will soon be discontinued. Now the developers are hinting at their plans for the future.
What will happen to Battlefield 2042 next? This is the anxious question many fans of the shooter are currently asking. At the Season 5 reveal, the developers did not make it clear whether further major content updates would follow. A new (blog entry) including a video now indicates that there is still a lot planned for BF 2042 before the next Battlefield is released.
What comes after Season 5?
You can watch the entire video directly below this paragraph. It is mainly about the new content that will be released during Season 5. For example, the map Hourglass will be reworked, there will be balancing updates and there will be a new event.
The whole video is below the paragraph.
But then at the end of the video and blog post, the developers promise even more new content:
We are continuing our work on the game beyond Season 5. We are committed to continuing the journey of Battlefield 2042 and are working out the best ways to deliver new content and experiences for you all. Be prepared to hear from us later in Season 5 about what”s planned.
What does this mean? The developers are deliberately remaining vague as they seem to be still exploring how exactly to continue with new content after Season 5. Further seasons are thus not yet confirmed, and it is quite possible that Season 5 will remain the last one.
However, further content is to follow. This could just be new Vault weapons, or the already announced advanced modifications for already existing shooting irons of this kind. But perhaps more is planned. Only new Specialists are not supposed to be added.
New detail on Season 5
(The rocket launcher was already seen in the trailer for Season 5, but was not previously announced as a new weapon.)
The blog entry also hides a detail about Season 5, confirming that the RPG-7V2 will return as a Vault weapon in Battlefield 2042. This missile launcher has a rather short range, but causes a lot of damage to vehicles.
What else do you expect from Battlefield 2042? Do you believe in more seasons with maps, weapons and more? Would you be satisfied if the developers only delivered smaller updates with new content? Or do you fear that from now on BF 2042 will only be worked on at a reduced pace? Feel free to let us know in the comments!
