As if out of the blue, EA’s top brass announced they are fundamentally refocusing the company, splitting the gaming division into two: EA Sports and EA Entertainment.
Electronic Arts has been an authority on video games since the early 90s. Over the years, the US company has produced numerous hits and milestones, including the world-renowned FIFA brand. As is well known, this will disappear from EA’s portfolio with the upcoming football simulation and be replaced by EA SPORTS FC. Now there will be further divisions within the company, which will also affect the FIFA successor.
Fortan, all games that are not in the sports segment will be handled by EA Entertainment. This includes the Battlefield series, Apex Legends and future Star Wars games. EA SPORTS, on the other hand, is now responsible for sports simulations and games such as EA SPORTS FC, which will be released at the end of the year, as well as all NFL, NHL, baseball, golf and Formula 1 games.

The reason for the restructuring is, among other things, the streamlining of work areas and areas of responsibility and the simpler handling of various business processes. There have also been some changes in the management team. Laura Miele will now serve as President of EA Entertainment Technology and Central Development, while Stuart Canfield will take over the role of Executive Vice President and CFO from Chris Suh.
