Blizzard is releasing a mini-series called Genesis for the game Overwatch on 06 July. This is being met with mixed opinions.

Overwatch 2 is a shooter from Blizzard. Due to the popular teasers and animations for the game, many fans have long wished for a film or series about it. Blizzard is now fulfilling this wish. We have summarised all the information about the series here.

Genesis – Part One: Dawn

The first part of the mini-series “Genesis” is to be released on YouTube on 6 July. The trailer already shows that this is the story of the Omnic crisis.

The Omnics are known in the Overwatch cosmos through previous animations and the game itself. The series also features playable characters from Overwatch, such as Ana, Reinhardt and Torbjörn.

A new Arcane?

An example of a successful video game series is Arcane by Riot Games, which is based on the game League of Legends. This not only received numerous prizes, but also encouraged many new players to try LoL.

Such a result would of course be ideal for Blizzard. However, since it is a mini-series, it might be difficult to keep up.

Divided Opinions

Although such a series should normally always please fans, opinions are divided when it comes to Overwatch. Because after Blizzard published that they will not release the PvE mode for the shooter after all, as originally planned and announced, the players were upset. For many, this mode was a main reason to buy. As a result, opinions on it are now divided.

While some are happy that at least something is coming from Blizzard, others think that the series contributed to the discontinuation of the PVE mode. Thus, the expectations towards the series “Genesis” are already very high.

From 6 July you will be able to watch it on YouTube, probably on the official (Overwatch channel). Whether the series lives up to expectations will then become clear.
