LPL 2023 Summer Playoffs – Teams and Schedule

Below are the ten teams that have qualified for the Spring Playoffs (ordered by seeding):

#1 –  BiliBili Gaming
#2 – JD Gaming
#3 – LNG Esports
#4 – Top Esports
#5 – Oh My God
#6 – Weibo Gaming
#7 – Royal Never Give Up
#8 – EDward Gaming
#9 – Team WE
#10 – Ninjas in Pyjamas

After being the #2 team for most of the season, BLG have come out on top, beating JDG in the regular split and locking the first seed going into playoffs. That being said, there is still a mark that hasn’t been removed yet: beating JDG in a series. BLG was able to beat all teams except them, handing them the only loss in 16 games. And if it wasn’t for JDG dropping unexpectedly against Invictus Gaming, we would’ve probably seen them in the first place.

Behind them, there is a 4-way fight between LNG, TES, OMG, and WBG. All these teams have a lot of positives going on for them but they lack the consistency from the top two teams. You should expect them to fight for a top 4 finish but with a little more volatility, especially if some of the lower-tier teams are on form. Based on what we’ve seen so far, LNG and TES are looking a little stronger.

After that, you have RNG, EDG, and WE that might be the underdogs of playoffs. They had highs and lows, and their runs will depend on which version we’re going to see. Among the three, EDG is the one with the highest potential, given the presence of world-class players like Uzi, Meiko, and Jiejie. Considering the team struggled at the start of the split, making it to playoffs is already a positive result for the 2021 world champions. Will they manage in the miracle run? It would be a great moment for Uzi and all the esports fans.

Lastly, we have Ninjas in Pyjamas, who barely scraped their way into playoffs. They are definitely looking like the least favorites to make a run into playoffs but getting through the first rounds would already be a great result for them.

The playoff bracket

Below you can find the entire schedule of the LPL Spring Playoffs, which starts on July 20. LPL’s playoff bracket is different from the others since there are two King of the Hill single elimination bracket for the lower 8 seeds, while BLG and JDG (#1 and #2) will wait for the winners directly in Phase 2.

It’s a great advantage for the two teams since Phase 2 has a double elimination bracket for the top four teams. That said, the LPL proved over the last few years that teams lower-seeded teams manage to upset better teams after having played multiple Bo5s: they came into those series better prepared, so don’t discount lower-seeded teams that go through.
