Krafton, known for being the creator of the PUBG franchise, is bringing another mobile game, Defense Derby.
Defense Derby is being called a genre-introducing title belonging to the novel ‘Betting Royale’ category. In this, each round begins with a “scouting stage,” in which players must enter a bidding process to recruit squad units. Players have to use these troops strategically to fight their opponents.
It’s developed by Rising Wings, an independent studio, but published globally by Krafton themselves.
Defense Derby was first released in Early Access in six countries, namely Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Canada, and Hong Kong, last April. After a short beta period, the game is now heading to a global launch.
Defense Derby to release globally on Aug. 3
Krafton confirmed in a press release that Defense Derby is set to launch globally on Aug. 3. The game will be available on the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store as well as Samsung’s Galaxy Store. The mobile game will support nine languages in total.
Defense Derby has various modes to keep players entertained. The main one is the 4-player PvP Derby, where players have to bid for troops and defend their castle while taking down the enemies. On top of this, it has many PvE modes as well to offer players a place to try their castle’s defenses. Additionally, Krafton has said that the global release will feature a new ‘Quest Mode” along with better Friendly Derby and spectator features.
Pre-registrations for Defense Derby are currently live on the Google Play Store, Apple’s App Store, and the Galaxy Store. Simply head over to any of the three stores and click the pre-register button to be notified when it releases. Players who pre-register will receive 20,000 gold, a rare hero card, a rare unit card, and a special castle skin.
“KRAFTON and RisingWings are dedicated to improving the quality of Defense Derby based on feedback from our global player base,” said Rafael Lim, the senior head of publishing business development at Krafton. “We are eager for players to engage with the innovative ‘Betting Royale’ genre this August.”
This won’t be the first mobile game Krafton is launching this year. Recently, it released Road to Valor: Empires, which was developed by its studio, Dreamotion. The title is a real-time PvP strategy game, similar to Clash Royale.
