This is the way! A Battlefield developer screws together a Star Wars concept in his spare time that looks fantastic
Games in the Star Wars universe are a tricky business. There are absolute hits and milestones, such as Knights of the Old Republic or Star Wars Battlefront (the good one, from 2004). And there are real pipe-drops like Kinect Star Wars, Masters of Teräs Käsi or Star Wars: Yoda Stories. Two strong opposites, good versus evil, the light and the dark side of the Force, you get the idea?!
But what about The Mandalorian? Ever since the series started, many fans might have wanted a video game starring Mando. So far, however, nothing official has come from the rights holders. No problem, an employee of Battlefield developer DICE thought, so I’ll just do it myself.
Impressive vision of a fan
Gavin Marshall, that’s the name of the nice gentleman we have to thank for this vision. His main job is as a UI Technical Designer at DICE, but in his spare time he is a Jedi Master. He must be, because how else could he have created this cool game concept?!
THE MANDALORIAN WAY OF THE WARRIOR
Back at it again making mockups for games that don’t exist. Here’s some UX/UI art & design practice I’ve been doing in recent days.

Look at the fictional screenshot of the planet Zeronia alone! The screen displays, the level design, all the countless details – at first glance, this concept looks like a real game. The display at the top right reveals that there would be a day-night cycle including changing weather conditions.
What else do we see? In the supposed Mandalorian title, we would apparently be able to switch between several weapons and, of course, throw thermal detonators. At the bottom left we can see a quick access menu typical for action adventures, with which we can heal ourselves or use other items … could, pardon.
Oh, you can tell: it’s really hard not to fall into reverie when looking at the pictures and the video. At the end of the day, though, we’re left with just a little spark of hope that someone at Disney and Lucasfilm will get to see this concept. And hope, as we all know, has moved mountains more often in the Star Wars universe.
How do you like the Mandalorian fan vision? Are you also gobsmacked by the slick presentation that makes what is shown look like a real video game? Would you like to have a virtual adventure with Mando? Or are there other Stars Wars games at the top of your wish list, and if so, which ones? Feel free to let us know in the comments!
