Blizzard Entertainment made a U-turn on a contentious World Tier modification that was part of Diablo 4’s patch 1.1. The patch released on July 18 in anticipation of Season One commencing on July 20, and was met with a strong backlash from the player community who took issue with several of the new changes.
Following the decision, the developers scheduled a Campire Chat to discuss the feedback received from the community on Patch 1.1.0, and detail what’s on the horizon for Diablo IV.
Among the numerous controversial alterations outlined in the patch notes, one particular change that was oddly omitted from the list was the restriction of access to World Tiers 3 and 4 unless players reached a certain level threshold. Players quickly found out that they needed to be at level 40 to access World Tier 3 and level 60 to access World Tier 4. This effectively barred lower-level players from benefiting from bonus experience gain and superior rewards.
The rationale behind this change was never disclosed by Blizzard. However, in a recent development, Blizzard has announced that the level requirements for the higher World Tiers in Diablo 4 will be completely removed. This decision has been warmly received by players who have been expressing their frustrations with various aspects of patch 1.1. It also raises hopes for more changes in response to player feedback, with a developer’s Campfire Chat scheduled for July 21.
Developers have pledged to discuss the multitude of controversial changes introduced in patch 1.1, which has significantly soured the mood among the player base ahead of the big Season One kick-off. It remains to be seen whether other changes introduced will be reverted back to their pre-patch state, though many fans are hoping that this will be the case after Diablo 4’s latest update made it more challenging to progress in the game.
The chat will be hosted on the official Diablo Twitch and YouTube channels on July 21 at 11 a.m. PDT.
