Valorant skins can be obtained in three main ways: Buying them, earning them or through promotions. In these three methods, there is the normal pricey method, a cheaper method, and a method to get Valorant skins for free!
In the quest to search for how to get skins in Valorant, we will cover all types of skins ranging from: gun skins, sprays and gun buddies. Some Valorant skins give slight tactical advantages based on the visual bullet travel or increased visibility while scoped. While skins do not always equal wins, they can have a slight impact on game play.
Lets go over the three main methods of getting Valorant skins.
How to buy skin in Valorant
The most direct and simple way to get Valorant skins is to buy them. You usually don’t buy Valorant skins directly, but instead exchange them for Valorant Points which you can purchase from the in-game store. At this moment, Valorant point can only be obtained from buying them directly inside the client. There is potentially the option to add certain Valorant Point rewards via Twitch Drops.
There are three options when buying Valorant skins, all at different price ranges and value for your dollar.
Buy Individual Valorant Skins
Buying individual skins are the priciest method as they are sold at the base price. The advantage of this method is that you can purchase one skin you like, without any unnecessary additions or duplicates for a gun. Individual skins are also not sold on a regular basis, but instead Riot rotates a selection of a few skins every few days. This means you will have to wait for your desired skin to be available on offer before you can buy it.
Valorant Skin Bundles
Skin bundles are both the most cost effective way to purchase skins, and the most expensive (but you get more skins per dollar spent). They are the most cost effective as the average price of all the skins are heavily discounted (as the knife is often free), while also the priciest as they include all skins in that collection. Bundles are currently only available for a limited time after the skin collection’s launch. Parts of bundles are then available as individual skins as mentioned above.

Each skin bundle has its own exclusivity rating: Select, Deluxe, Premium, Ultra and Exclusive in ascending order and each rarity tear has a different price tag. The lowest exclusivity tier has a price tag of approximately 40$ and each consecutive tier increases the price by about 20$ with the Ultra being about 100$. Exclusive edition bundles have varying prices.
Additionally, and option to unlock additional color schemas using Radianite Points is available for most skins.
Valort Night Market
Every now and then, Riot releases the Valorant Night Market (similar to Your Shop in LoL). This night market will be active for a number of days and offer random discounts on a set of different skins. These skins are discounted and purchase individually, this is by far the cheapest way to purchase skins you want, but it relies on luck.
How to get Valorant Skins with Twitch Prime
Twitch prime offers benefits on many different games, including Valorant. Twitch prime will often reward monthly Buddies, Sprays or Radianite. However, as Valorant gains more skins and they become less exclusive, it is likely Riot will extend Twitch prime rewards to gun skins as well.
Twitch prime can be bought directly or gained for free if you have an existing Amazon prime account. After gaining Twitch prime, you simply have to link your Twitch Prime to your Riot Valorant account. Twitch prime rewards both changes and are distributed monthly.
How to get skin in Valorant for free
While the most tedious way to get Valorant skins, you can earn various buddies, sprays and gun skins from tiering up agents. You can tier up agents by activating their contract, finishing daily quests, finishing weekly quests, and simply playing the game. The various multiplayer modes give different amounts of experience, and you have a selection of daily and weekly questions to help you along the way.
Depending on the agent, you will exclusive skins, so choose an agent contract to activate wisely as reaching level 10 for the pistol gun skins may take weeks. However, if you really want one of the typically “free skins” without the effort, you can also spend Valorant points to upgrade your agent tier to unlock your chosen skin.
Valorant Skin Drops and Valorant Skin Gifting
Valorant skin drops are yet to make an entrance. We are confident that skins or special watch rewards will be available soon, especially knowing how Riot Games developed this concept already with League of Legends. Special in-game quests or watch rewards are a likely addition to the game.
Valorant skin gifting was promised by Riot Games almost a year ago, but has not yet been implemented into the game. This addition will also activate Valorant Skin Trading and off client sales or potentially Valorant betting with skins. The gifting option will likely arrive later in 2021.
Finally, given the upcoming VCT Masters, the choice of skins by Valorant players may also slightly impact the demand for certain skins. VCT skins wise, it is likely Riot will continue the tradition of creating a skin collection after the VCT Champions winner is announced or during special in-stream drops as well.
