After the latest CS update, there are swimming chickens and new maps as well as first information about the global ranking list.

Counter-Strike 2 is scheduled for release this summer. While the fans wait patiently for the release, Valve continues to tinker diligently with the game.

Now there was an update that not only brings new maps, but also an upgrade for the chickens. Along the way, leaks about the global rankings also come to light.

Swimming chickens and new maps

One of the most important new features in CS is definitely the swimming chickens! With the new update, Valve has taught the popular map dwellers how to swim.

In addition, Overpass and Vertigo make room for Ancient and Anubis in the map pool of CS. Wingman mode will be disabled for the time being.

Further animation adjustments concern dropping the weapon into the water. In addition, the sound for grenades has been adjusted when they interact with water.

Global ranking and changes for ranked mode

Besides the update, however, there are now first leaks on a global leaderboard.

Counter-Strike data miner “Aquarius” has published possible teasers for this in his latest posts.

According to Aquarius, the ranked mode is to be reset at regular intervals by means of a season introduction. This system exists simultaneously with the global ranking list. The ranking list is also to be sorted by region in the future.

In addition, there is to be a new rating system. The “CS rating” is to reflect the individual Elo in competitive mode. The rating is to run from 0 to 35. After every five points, the colour of the rank will change. The higher the number, the better the rank.

There are also supposed to be other statistics, such as the victory rate on a map, detailed statistics for individual players and the CS rating.

– Leaderboards that can be sorted by seasons and regions
– Map winrate of your squad
– Detailed statistics of every player of your team
– Worldwide winrate of every player
– Some sort of HLTV-esque “CS Rating”

Aquarius has also rummaged through the game folders and found information about the course of the seasons.

The assumption is that the first CS2 Season will be released in autumn 2023 and will run until spring 2024. That means the Seasons would coincide with the Spring and Fall Major.
