Assassin’s Creed Mirage is both ushering in a new generation for the series and offering up a revisit of the classic concepts that made the franchise great. It’s a re-imagination of the origins of Assassin’s Creed, taking players back to the Middle East and giving them a smaller, shorter game to enjoy. However, as with many games that come out these days, players are wondering if Mirage is only for the newer consoles. So, will Assassin’s Creed Mirage be on PS4?
It’s an understandable question, as, with time moving ever onwards, games become more technical and taxing for the older systems. After all, the PlayStation 4 – if you’ve got the standard model – is ten years old now. There will come a day in the very near future upon which Sony will reveal the discontinuation of the PlayStation 4 platform in full, and another generation will fade into darkness.
But in the meantime, will Assassin’s Creed Mirage be on PS4?
What Even Is Assassin’s Creed Mirage?
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is an all-new Assassin’s Creed game that was once little more than an expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It was made more ambitious and expanded by Ubisoft to become a standalone game, but it remains much smaller than anything we’ve seen from the franchise since 2017. It’s a short-form game that will reportedly take little more than twenty hours to be completed by the average gamer, but that doesn’t mean that it’s a bad game.
No, on the contrary – it’s a return to form for Assassin’s Creed. Many fans believed the series was slipping in recent years, with Ubisoft constantly pouring resources into bigger, brighter, and more ambitious games with each new release. Most recently, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was released, and it was the largest and longest game the fifteen-year-old franchise has ever seen. It took players from Norway to England to Ireland to North America, and then to France, Scotland, and even Asgard.
It was the longest Assassin’s Creed game by duration and it featured more side content than any game that came before it. That’s not the case with Mirage, though – this brand-new, short-form title will be much more digestible and accessible, much to the appreciation of Assassin’s Creed fans the world over.

Will Assassin’s Creed Mirage Be on PS4?
So, let’s get to the question at hand – will Assassin’s Creed Mirage be on PS4?
Yes, when it launches in October, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be available on PlayStation 4. It’s also launching on the Xbox One – and of course, on the newer platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. There’s still life in the PlayStation 4 console where Assassin’s Creed is concerned, but there are high expectations that this will be the last AC title to drop on the PlayStation 4, so it may be time to consider upgrading your console.
Mirage has been constructed in the engine that powers Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, so it’ll look and feel similar to that game. If you’ve successfully played Valhalla on the PlayStation 4, then you’ll be able to enjoy Mirage without any questions asked, but don’t expect it to look as good as it will on a PlayStation 5, for instance.
At present, no future content has been confirmed – or even planned – for Assassin’s Creed Mirage. It’s a much shorter, cheaper, and more accessible game, and that’s good news for gamers the world over. If you’re considering investing in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, then you can’t go wrong with the Deluxe Edition. It’s available on PS4 and for an extra $4 / £5, you’ll unlock a stack of extra content in the game.
